Education currently operates as a one-fits-all curriculum, ignoring crucial differences in the needs of children living in urban and rural areas. On top of this, rural education actors often lack adequate funding, physical material and other resources that facilitate effective learning, besides also lacking specific training in some cases. The educators’ training, as the curriculum, should not be standardised and should be tailored to addressing those challenges that are specific to rural settings, while at the same time, taking advantage of those opportunities that may also arise from a rural context.
RuralED seeks to address these challenges by providing an instrument of connection, a digital networking platform to be employed by educators, communities and other related organisations, thus magnifying rural educators’ work and attracting development opportunities.
